Snowapacolypse 2014

All of Greenville knew this was coming.  Rumors said that we'd get anywhere from 2 to 10 inches.  Milk and bread were scarce at the grocery stores, along with everything else you can put in your mouth.  The produce sections were very bare, and the crowds were unprecedented.  It was crazy.

We all hunkered down and planned to be inside, doing lots of cooking, hoping we'd keep power this time.  I'm so glad to tell you we did. 

Tuesday we were loving not going anywhere and were out in it as soon as there was anything to be out in.

I actually went sledding down Strange Road, had a video to prove it, and accidentally deleted the video.  :(

By Wednesday, we waited until the afternoon to get out and play.  We had a snowball fight:

By Thursday we were going stir-crazy.  But we went out one last time.

Stephen took the Corolla out for a spin early that evening, since the snow was melting and had not re-frozen.  We ended up getting a pizza that night and Meagan and Jonathan from our community group came over for cocoa and cider.

By Friday, we were thankful it happened, but ready for it to be done.  I needed more groceries!  :)

But we did stop by Publix long enough to get stuff for a proper Valentine's Breakfast:

And before all the snow melted, we snapped a photo Rainbow, Brody's 5K class' stuffed animal, who we were supposed to take on adventures with us that week.

Snow Day One

We didn't realize it was actually going to snow until the night before. We knew it was coming in the afternoon and when kids got an early dismissal from school, the excitement started. Of course when we first got out in it, there wasn't much to do but watch it fall...

We had a great time sledding with the neighbors:

Sydney's Baptism

This past November we were reading  Revelation 21 for school. After reading about the Lamb's Book of Life, Sydney asked whose names would be in that book. I explained that she already knew... Believers. Those people who trust that Christ's payment on the cross was enough to cover their sin and because of that want to follow Him.

Her eyes instantly filled up with tears. I asked her why she was crying and she said she was just thankful that "was it." It was as if she'd just heard the Gospel for the very first time.

Later that morning Sydney asked to speak to me privately. She said she wanted to get baptized. I had her write this all down so she wouldn't forget what she was really thinking, hearing, and feeling in that moment.

 Her last sentence was my favorite, "Because Saten had a grip on us and Jesus brook it."

Amen.

We have since seen the fruit of the Holy Spirit in her life - convicting, moving her to repentance.

Today we were able to celebrate with her as she told the world that She. Is. His.
